Apple TV+ has announced a new documentary series about fine dining

Michelin stars are the world’s most prestigious culinary accolade – but what goes into achieving them? This question will be explored in a new documentary series for Apple TV+, Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, executive produced by Gordon Ramsay.
Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars: Everything We Know So Far
Across eight episodes, Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars will follow chefs at some of the world’s top restaurants in cities like London, Los Angeles, Mexico City and Copenhagen. Hosted by Topjaw presenter Jesse Burgess and produced by Studio Ramsay Global, the series will give viewers insight into the high-stakes world of fine dining, and the quest for stars across the year-long Michelin season.
We’ll see some chefs working tirelessly to secure their first star, and others devastated after losing one. Burgess will also meet chefs who are on a mission to get that elusive three-star rating, an accolade currently held by less than 150 restaurants around the world.
‘As a chef, the pursuit of perfection is everything, and you cannot underestimate the unbelievable drive and ambition, the determination and sacrifice these chefs are going through day in and day out, chasing the dream of acknowledgment from the Michelin Guide,’ said Ramsay, who is no stranger to Michelin stars himself.

‘There’s no honour in any industry as prestigious and influential as the Michelin Star,’ added Burgess. ‘We are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the stories of some of the most exciting restaurants in the world – as they throw everything, including the kitchen sink, at their obsessive quest for the ultimate award.’
A former model, Burgess is the co-founder and host of Topjaw, a YouTube channel and social media brand centred around quick-fire chef interviews. Everyone from Michel Roux Jr to Marcus Wareing to Angela Hartnett has been on, sharing their recommendations on the best restaurants, cafes and bars – and the most overrated spots.
The Michelin story goes back to 1889, when brothers Andre and Edouard Michelin launched an eponymous tire company in the French town of Clermont-Ferrand. In a bid to encourage more people to drive, they decided to create a pocket-sized guide containing information for travellers. In 1920, the pair gave it a makeover, adding information on where to eat and stay, going on to recruit a team of mystery diners to anonymously review restaurants.
Restaurants can be awarded with either one, two or three stars, and every year there is a ceremony announcing any new awards.
